A hearty and simple beef pasta in tomato sauce that’s perfect for any weeknight dinner. This dish combines ground beef with a rich tomato sauce and pasta for a satisfying meal.

  • 12 oz pasta (such as penne or spaghetti)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Add cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to combine.
  7. Serve hot, topped with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
