  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and matcha powder.
  3. Add yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter to dry ingredients. Knead until smooth.
  4. Cover dough and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  6. Roll tightly and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased pan.
  7. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  9. Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk for icing. Drizzle over warm rolls.
