A flavorful and protein-packed vegetarian burger made with black beans and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mash black beans in a bowl with a fork.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Serve on buns with toppings of your choice.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, replace the egg with 1 tbsp flaxseed mixed with 3 tbsp water.
  • Store uncooked patties in the fridge for up to 2 days.
